True Grit Redemption 2 Review: Nolimit City Returns to the Frozen Frontier
Sequels rarely improve on the original. Nolimit City's snowbound western is the exception, mostly because they remembered what worked.
True Grit Redemption set a bar that few wild-west slots managed to clear: a slow, deliberately cold base game punctuated by spectacular bonus eruptions. The sequel keeps the 6-reel All Ways frame, adds a winter overlay that visually justifies the slowdown, and folds in xNudge wilds that walk down the screen and pick up multipliers as they go.
Nolimit publishes RTP at 96.13% with a 94.05% regulated variant, again with extreme volatility. The max win extends to 35,000x stake, beating the original's ceiling and giving frequent players a reason to migrate. The Bounty Hunter bonus stays the headline feature, now with three tiers instead of two, and the new Frostbite phase freezes selected positions into persistent wilds for the remainder of the round.
This is the kind of sequel that respects the audience. The art direction matured rather than escalated. There is no shock-value gore here, just snow, slow piano, and the occasional vulture circling a saloon. Mechanically Nolimit added enough new logic to justify the entry without scrapping the foundation that built the original's reputation.
The risks are the usual ones. Extreme volatility means most sessions end nowhere near the headline number, and the dead stretches in the base game are demonstrably longer than in casual-friendly titles. If you came for steady drip-feed wins this is the wrong slot. If you wanted a sequel that takes the source material seriously, this is one of the better follow-ups in the studio's recent run.
- +35,000x ceiling improves meaningfully on the original
- +Three-tier Bounty Hunter bonus offers genuine variety
- +Mature art direction that escalates without shock value
- −Extreme volatility means most sessions feel empty
- −Regulated-market RTP variant at 94.05% is steep
